   El Chalten Visitor Centre El Chalten is Argentina's trekking capital — a small town that exists solely for access to the Fitz Roy massif. No permits required; trails are free and well-marked.    Glaciar de los Tres Viewpoint From a viewpoint slightly above the lake, the full extent of the glacier is visible — a river of ice flowing from the col between Fitz Roy and Poincenot. The crevasses glow blue in the compressed ice. Condors ride the thermals above the ridge, their three-metre wingspans barely moving.

    Return to El Chalten The descent retraces the route. Patagonian afternoon light paints the granite walls in warm tones — gold, pink, and deep orange.
