Tappe di Questo Tour (12)

  1. 1
Belfast — Titanic Quarter The journey begins where the Titanic was built. The angular titanium-clad museum tells the story of the ship from keel to ocean floor. Belfast's transformation from conflict to culture is remarkable.
  2. 2
Carrickfergus Castle An 800-year-old Norman castle guarding Belfast Lough. William of Orange landed here in 1690 before the Battle of the Boyne. The castle has withstood sieges by Scots, French, and Americans.
  3. 3
The Gobbins Cliff Path A dramatic coastal path carved into the basalt cliffs in 1902. Bridges and tunnels cling to the rock face above the Irish Sea — a Victorian engineering marvel recently restored.
  4. 4
Glenarm — Antrim Coast Road The oldest village in the Glens of Antrim. The coast road from here north was carved from the cliff face in the 1830s, opening up some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Europe.
  5. 5
Cushendall — Capital of the Glens Where three of the nine Glens of Antrim converge. The red sandstone Curfew Tower was built in 1817 to confine "riotous people" — now it houses visiting artists.
  6. 6
Torr Head Viewpoint On clear days, the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland is just 12 miles across the sea. This is the closest point between Ireland and Britain.
  7. 7
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge A 20-meter rope bridge suspended 30 meters above the sea connecting the mainland to a tiny island. Salmon fishermen built the original — today it tests the nerves of every visitor.
  8. 8
Ballintoy Harbour A tiny fishing harbour that served as the Iron Islands in Game of Thrones. The limestone and basalt coastline creates a dramatic black-and-white landscape.
  9. 9
Giant's Causeway 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed by an ancient volcanic eruption — or, as legend has it, built by the giant Finn McCool as a path to fight his Scottish rival.
  10. 10
Bushmills — Old Bushmills Distillery The world's oldest licensed distillery, granted its license in 1608. Irish whiskey — spelled with an "e" to distinguish it from Scotch — has been distilled here for over 400 years.
  11. 11
Dunluce Castle A ruined medieval castle perched on a basalt outcrop. In 1639, the kitchen fell into the sea during a storm — the Countess refused to live there afterward.
  12. 12
Mussenden Temple — Downhill Demesne A domed rotunda perched on a 120-foot cliff above Benone Beach. Built in 1785 as a library, it was modeled on the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli. Erosion threatens its dramatic position.
