Cinque Terre Coastal Trail — Italy

🚶 ウォーキング 10スポット 無料

🚶10 mapped stops

Walk the ancient mule paths connecting five painted villages on the Italian Riviera — terraced vineyards, Mediterranean cliffs, and azure sea.

このツアーのスポット(10)

  1. 1
Riomaggiore The southern gateway to the Cinque Terre. A Cinque Terre Card is required for the trail — purchase at the train station. The full five-village traverse gains and loses over 500 metres of elevation on stone-paved mule paths. Start early; afternoon heat on the exposed sections is punishing. Water is available in each village.
  2. 2
Riomaggiore Upper Village Above the harbour, the village climbs the steep hillside in layers of pastel stucco — pink, yellow, ochre. These buildings date to the 13th century, constructed to resist Saracen raids. The vineyards above produce Sciacchetrà, a rare dessert wine from grapes dried on the terraces.
  3. 3
Trail to Manarola The trail climbs through terraced vineyards supported by dry-stone walls. These terraces represent thousands of years of human engineering — transforming impossible slopes into productive land. The stone walls, if laid end to end, would stretch farther than the Great Wall of China.
  4. 4
Manarola Perhaps the most photographed village on the Italian coast. Manarola clings to a rocky promontory above a tiny harbour where fishing boats are winched up the cliff face. The church of San Lorenzo dates to 1338. The village wine cooperative welcomes tastings.
  5. 5
Trail to Corniglia The longest and most strenuous section — the trail climbs to nearly 200 metres above the sea through olive groves and dense Mediterranean scrub. Rosemary, thyme, and lavender scent the air. The views along this section are the most dramatic on the entire walk.
  6. 6
Corniglia The only village not at sea level — Corniglia sits on a 100-metre cliff reached by the Lardarina staircase of 382 steps. The village is quieter than its neighbours, with a medieval core of narrow alleys and a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean.
  7. 7
Trail to Vernazza The trail descends through vineyard terraces with Vernazza appearing below — its Doria Castle tower rising above the harbour. This section offers what many consider the finest view in the Cinque Terre: the approach to Vernazza from above.
  8. 8
Vernazza A natural harbour sheltered by a medieval fortress. Vernazza is architecturally the most intact of the five villages — the harbour, the piazza, the church of Santa Margherita with its bell tower. Sit on the breakwater with gelato and watch the fishing boats.
  9. 9
Trail to Monterosso The final section is the most challenging — a steep climb out of Vernazza and a descent to Monterosso. The trail passes through terraced hillsides where lemon trees grow in sheltered pockets. Practice Leave No Trace; these ancient paths are easily damaged by erosion.
  10. 10
Monterosso al Mare The largest of the five villages and the only one with a proper beach. The old town retains its medieval character; the new town offers the beach and the Giant — a 14-metre concrete statue supporting a seaside terrace. The train returns you to any of the villages in minutes.
